The ideal candidateisaproactive problem solver with excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of supply chain processes. They can balance cost, quality, and delivery while fostering strong supplier relationships.
Job Overview
This position will be responsible for purchasing select components for the plant, ensuring timely delivery, managing inventory levels, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The Buyer will collaborate with various departments to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements andqualitystandards.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchase components for production while managing inventory to minimize excessyetprevent shortages.
- Monitor MRP and production schedules to ensure materials are available as required.
- Develop and maintainglobalsources; forecast future material needs.
- Research market trends to ensure competitive pricing, best value, and high-quality products.
- Review purchase requisitions, prepare and evaluate requests forquotations,and negotiate contracts within budget and authority limits.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensureon-time material availabilityor expedites; communicateupdateswithproductionandscheduling.
- Collaborate with Quality and suppliers to resolve defective material issues and determine corrective actions.
- Support Engineering product development with samples and sourcing.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers; negotiate prices, assess market conditions, and resolve delivery challenges.
- Assess supplier performance and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Qualifications
- Minimum of3years ofpurchasingexperience; APICS CPIM certification is desired.
- Experience with MRP systems in a manufacturing environment;
Epicor experience preferred. - Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills;includingexceptionalinterpersonal,written,and verbalabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Highly motivated self-starter with a positive attitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
