A Maintenance High School Youth Apprentice Employee utilizes their classroom training and on‑the‑job experience/exposure to better prepare themselves for a career in manufacturing after high school. Any candidate will be asked to work alongside a mentor to better understand the mechanical and electrical workings of the Amcor production equipment. Learning to work safely in the manufacturing environment will be the top priority of this position.
WhatYou Get To Do
- Learn about all aspects of the Amcor Maintenance Department including:
- Basic shop bench work, minor fabrication projects, assist in general plant and machine preventative maintenance, and assist with machine repairs.
- Responsible for following all plant and department specific safety rules, procedures, and programs.
- Wearing all required personal protective equipment for all plant, department, and task specific requirements.
- Troubleshooting both electrically and mechanically by working with hand tools, belts, lubrication, and hose/piping repairs.
- Working with Maintenance Planner/Scheduler relative to equipment issues found during the inspection/preventative maintenance process.
- Communicating all shift information to the appropriate people (thorough shift pass‑down).
- Performing basic preventative maintenance duties/tasks.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Safety mindset
- Good communication skills – written, verbal and interpersonal.
- Experience with shop tools.
- Troubleshooting ability
- High School Junior or Senior (must be 16+ years old).
- Have transportation from school to work.
- Able to lift 50#.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
