About the Role

The 2nd Shift, (Monday through Thursday 2:00pm-12:00am), Welder plays a critical role in the manufacturing and fabrication process by producing high-quality welded components that meet precise specifications and safety standards. This position requires the ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to accurately assemble metal parts using various welding techniques. The welder will work primarily during the first shift, collaborating closely with production teams to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining strict adherence to quality control procedures.

Attention to detail and a commitment to workplace safety are essential, as the role involves handling potentially hazardous equipment and materials. Ultimately, the 1st Shift Welder contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the production line by delivering durable, defect-free welds that support the company’s manufacturing goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) or equivalent recognized credential.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols accurately.
  • Knowledge of welding safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated or robotic welding systems.
  • Additional certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or specialized welding process certifications.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication and assembly processes beyond welding.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, Stick, or other welding methods as required by the project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures.
  • Inspect welded joints for quality and accuracy, making adjustments or repairs as necessary to meet standards.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine cleaning and minor repairs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for self and coworkers.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and team members to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Document work performed and report any issues or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.

The required skills enable the welder to accurately interpret technical drawings and apply appropriate welding techniques to produce strong, precise welds. Proficiency in various welding methods such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding is essential for adapting to different project requirements. Safety skills ensure the welder consistently follows protocols to prevent accidents and maintain a secure work environment. Preferred skills, including experience with automated welding systems and additional certifications, enhance efficiency and quality, allowing the welder to handle more complex tasks and troubleshoot equipment issues.
