DMG CNC Machinist/Machine Operator - 3rd shift (entry level)
Location:
Appleton, Wisconsin, United States
We are seeking a CNC Machinist/Machine Operator to operate vertical turning centers that produce specialized aerospace components. You will work with state-of-the-art equipment in a safe, clean, air- and climate-controlled environment. Training is provided for a motivated, mechanically inclined candidate. This is a 3rd shift position, Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM.
Responsibilities- Receive work instructions, operation sheets, setup sheets, first-piece and in-process check sheets from supervision indicating the operations to be performed.
- Read and interpret dimension drawings, sketches, tool setup sheets and manufacturing instructions to perform machining operations and setups.
- Use drawings to determine required dimensions, tolerances and travels.
- Oversee and control the operation of machining centers in the machining of forgings made from various super alloys, with support from engineering and programming teams.
- Use precision measuring devices furnished by the company (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier scales, gauges) to check machined dimensions and surface finishes against customer prints and specifications.
- Load and unload pieces using an overhead hoist.
- Handle material carefully before and after machining operations.
Basic Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferable skills.
- Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension; ability to read instructions and perform simple measurements.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vocational-Technical Certificate or an associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or related curriculum.

- Strong knowledge of basic machining principles

- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team
- Strong analytical skills to analyze and resolve problems and implement long-term solutions
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
