Marketing Specialist – College of Business and Economics

The College of Business and Economics (CoBE) at UW-Whitewater seeks an experienced Marketing Specialist to join its Marketing and Communications team. This is a 12‑month, full‑time, on‑campus position reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

As an applied marketing practitioner and strategic contributor, the Marketing Specialist will develop, execute, and measure multi‑channel marketing initiatives that support enrollment, brand awareness, and institutional visibility across digital, print, social, event, and paid media platforms.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Marketing Execution
    :
    Develop, implement, and disseminate marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies.
  • Manage multi‑channel campaigns from concept through deployment, maintaining brand consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Coordinate with vendors, designers, and agency partners to produce and place creative materials on time and within budget.
  • Support event marketing and recruitment programming, including on‑ and off‑campus visits, email campaigns, high school outreach, and signature college events.
  • Strategy and Planning
    :
    Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen brand presence and campaign effectiveness across earned, owned, and paid channels.
  • Assist in planning and executing paid media campaigns including digital, programmatic, social, and out‑of‑home.
  • Data and Analytics
    :
    Collect, analyze, prepare, summarize, and disseminate data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities.
  • Prepare performance reports and contribute to campaign optimization based on data insights.
  • Monitor higher education marketing trends to support evidence‑based strategic decisions.
  • Supervise and mentor student marketing staff.
  • Collaborate with campus and college partners including Advising, Admissions, and college departments, centers, and institutes.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees as appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a closely related field, OR equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of progressively responsible marketing experience with demonstrated results across multiple channels.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content production.
  • Experience using marketing analytics to evaluate performance and guide decision‑making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop content for varied audiences and purposes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and independence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education marketing, enrollment marketing, or a mission‑driven institutional environment.
  • Familiarity with paid media platforms (Google Ads, Meta Business Suite, Linked In, programmatic, Stack Adapt) and campaign management.
  • Experience supervising student workers or junior team members.
  • Knowledge of brand management principles and integrated marketing planning.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., ) and marketing analytics dashboards.
  • Experience with customer relationship management programs (Slate).
  • Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Express, Canva).

Compensation
:
