Print Materials

Write, design, print, and mail:

  • Newsletters-Develop articles and oversee the production of the print newsletters 2-3x/year. Conduct interviews to effectively share personal stories.
  • Annual Report-Compile NWLT stats, accomplishments, and photographs. 1x/year.
  • Brochures/Booklet Guides-Update and revise/refresh publications as needed.
  • Traveling Displays-Update, revise, or create new content, as needed.
Digital Presence

Manage software programs effectively and write, design, and distribute:

  • Email Newsletters-Monthly. Gain subscribers. Edit staff contributions.
  • Website-Create and update content including blog posts, event calendar, and pages.
  • Social media-Facebook and Instagram. Manage and edit staff contributions.
  • Storefront-Maintain with vendor and update supplies in house.
  • Videos-Develop videos to showcase NWLT’s services/projects and engage audiences.
External Media
  • Advertising– Oversee the radio and newspaper contacts and marketing materials.
  • Featured stories-Identify topics and newsworthy content and deliver to media contacts. Serve as an NWLT representative on radio and television.
  • Press releases-Write and distribute to media outlets for announcing outings, activities, and special events.
Event Support
  • Annual Meeting
    - June.
  • Film Festival
    - July.
  • Other-Information tables at community events, group outings, special donor programs.
Mailing Support

Assist staff with the creation and distribution of materials related to:

  • County-wide mailings
    - Promote NWLT’s services to qualified property owners in counties.
  • Neighbor mailings
    - Solicit support from property owners who live around NWLT conservation areas.
  • Membership & land campaign mailings
    - Solicit support from area residents and visitors.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education– B.A. or B.S. degree in the communications, public relations, media, nonprofit management, marketing, or other related field preferred. Associate’s degrees will be considered.
  • Experience–A minimum of two years of professional experience is required. Direct experience working in other roles for a land trust or conservation organization will be considered.
  • Skills– Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated. Excellent communication and writing skills are essential including storytelling. An ability to work professionally in a group setting and one-on-one. Proficiency in computer office systems including Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Experience with software applications including Word Press, Canva Pro, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop are strongly preferred. Also required is knowledge of northern Wisconsin ecology, natural resources, and conservation related trends and issues.
Wages

& Benefits:

The Specialist will be a half to three-quarter time employee (20 to 30 hours per week) of the Northwoods Land Trust. (There is a possibility for full-time depending on the skills of the candidate.) This position has a flexible work schedule, based out of the Eagle River office, with the potential for limited work hours from home. Occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.

The starting wage is between $25 and $27 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include optional participation in a 3% matching SIMPLE IRA retirement plan; a medical/health subsidy (QSEHRA or stipend); paid vacation, sick time, and holidays;
Death and Disability insurance; and mileage reimbursement.

About the Northwoods Land Trust:

The Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) permanently conserves natural shorelands, woodlands and other natural resources to benefit present and future generations. Based in Eagle River, WI, NWLT services Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Florence, Iron, Price and northern Langlade counties in northern Wisconsin. NWLT primarily works with donations of conservation easements and conservation lands, with nearly 16,000 acres and 90 miles of lake and river shoreline protected since its inception in 2001.
