The Opportunity

As the AAPI Coalitions Manager
, you will be an ambassador and strategist connecting the Democratic Party of Wisconsin with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. Reporting to the Coalitions Director, your mission is to build durable organizing power and deepen engagement in historically underrepresented communities across the state ahead of the 2026 elections. This is an active, external-facing role: you will spend your time conducting outreach with community leaders, hosting coalition events, identifying storytellers, and representing the Party at local festivals and meetings.

You will translate our statewide political strategy into culturally competent, community-level action.

  • You are a natural relationship builder. You know how to walk into a room of strangers, find common ground, and leave with five new contacts. You understand how to build trust with local influencers, non-profits, and grassroots leaders.
  • You are deeply rooted. You have a passion for, and a strong understanding of, the unique political landscape, values, and concerns of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in Wisconsin.
  • You are a cross-departmental collaborator. You don't work in a silo. You know how to take the relationships you build and partner with the Organizing Team to build an in-language phone bank, or partner with the Communications team to elevate a community storyteller.
  • You are an active "Doer." You aren't looking for a desk job. You love attending community service initiatives, weekend festivals, and voter education events to meet voters where they are.
  • You are responsible and attentive to detail. As representative of the party you must ensure you are aware of current situations/dynamics in your portfolio and can maintain good record keeping skills.
Job Responsibilities
  • Outreach & Relationship Management: Manage and execute a targeted outreach plan for the Asian American and Pacific Islander coalition. Host recurring meetings with community leaders, local elected officials, and new stakeholders to build trust and power.
  • Event Execution: Plan and host community service initiatives, voter education events, and coalition-specific actions. Represent DPW by implementing high-traffic canvassing at relevant community events and cultural festivals.
  • Capacity Building: Provide strategic support to assigned constituency Caucuses and execute efforts to recruit and build volunteer leadership within the coalition.
  • Cross-Departmental Integration: Collaborate with the Organizing Department to establish culturally competent, coalition-specific community canvasses and phone banks. Advise on relational organizing and volunteer recruitment programs.
  • Intelligence & Messaging: Provide crucial context, memos, and briefings for principals and high-level surrogates ahead of community events. Maintain statewide lists of contacts for outreach and storyteller engagement.
  • Special Projects: Execute special projects assigned to the Political Department, such as State Convention assignments or surrogate tours.
Core Qualifications
  • Accountability & Solution-Oriented: You take full ownership of your actions and commitments, holding yourself to a high standard and seeing objectives through to completion. When challenges arise, you approach them with a…
