Job Description

Director of Youth Communities, The Wisco Project

The Organization:

The Wisco Project is Wisconsin’s largest, scrappiest youth vote organization. We run large-scale organizing and digital programming to reach and mobilize young people across the state. In 2026, we will work to expand our youth coalitions, strengthen youth political power, and score progressive victories for young people across the state. This will be a crucial year for Wisconsin and we are in need of talented, dedicated staff ready to take on this challenge with us!

What Will You Do?

We are looking for a Director of Youth Communities to lead our largest effort yet to push beyond college campuses and build inroads with young workers, young parents, and other youth communities. The Director of Youth Communities should be someone who is passionate about finding creative ways to politically engage young people and building youth political power. The role will start this summer and will run through at least December 2026, with a possibility of extension.

This position will be based in Madison, WI and requires a significant amount of in-person work. Supporter housing may be available.

The Youth Communities Director will report to the State Director and work to:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of original programming designed to reach and engage young people in key areas across the state — including strategic direction, tactics, and metrics

  • Manage a team of Youth Community Organizers who will directly implement on the ground programming

  • Work with the Creative Team to help guide paid media programming targeted at off-campus youth communities.

  • Work collaboratively across departments, including Voter Access, Operations, and Data, to ensure program needs are met

  • As necessary, present Wisco Project programming to external stakeholders

  • All other duties as assigned

Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will have:

  • At least 4-5 years of combined political, labor, and/or community organizing experience, with a preference for at least 1 cycle of electoral experience

  • Substantial experience managing full time staff

  • Demonstrated experience developing original programming

  • Track record of working collaboratively across departments and broad-based knowledge of campaign functions

  • Strong familiarity with VAN, relational organizing tools (Empower, Reach, etc), and SMS tools (Scale to Win, Thru Text, etc)

  • Creative, flexible disposition and strong sense of ambition and internal motivation

  • Strong cultural competency

Job Details: The salary range for this role is $7,500-$8,500 month plus benefits. This is a full time role.
