Overview

MUSC Florence is seeking experienced Emergency or Critical Care Registered Nurses to join our Rapid Response Team. This clinical position prioritizes patient rounding, bedside nursing collaboration, and rapid assessment of high‑risk patients.

Responsibilities

Utilize MEWS scores, prior medical history, and admission location information to prioritize assessment of high‑risk patients. Evaluate patient care and hospital practices in MUSC inpatient settings to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and evidence‑based practices. Collaborate with other departments to ensure staff, patient, and visitor public health safety. Respond to any Code Blue, Rapid Response notifications, BAT Alerts, and nurse‑driven requests for clinical evaluation.

Coach real‑time staff and provide education on MEWS scores, high‑risk indicators, and Code Blue/Rapid Response protocols. Communicate with nurses, patient care technicians, hospitalist medicine providers, ICU intensivists, and pulmonologists as needed.

Experience
  • Previous Critical Care or ED RN experience required.
  • Ability to work under stress.
Licenses / Certificates
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Active South Carolina RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS certified.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
  • Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
  • Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read charts, documents, and monitors.
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively and perceive important sounds such as alarms.
  • Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of long shifts and stressful situations.
  • Mobility to navigate the clinical environment, including moving between patient rooms and offices.
  • Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.
Schedule

Shift: 7p‑7a. Scheduled weekly hours: 36.
