Full‑time Registered Nurse (RN, RN II, RN III) at Rogers Memorial Hospital.

Schedule:

40 hours/week, 4–10 hour shifts (7:30a.m.–6p.m. or 8a.m.–6:30p.m.). No weekends, no holidays, no on‑call duties.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complete initial assessments and documentation as required.
  • Collect, record, and analyze admission data, including patient strengths, limitations, cultural, spiritual, and ethnic factors, medical status, medication history, and age‑specific needs.
  • Involve patient’s support systems in assessment and documentation; observe and document family interactions.
  • Advocate for patients by explaining rights, obtaining signatures for consents, and protecting privacy and confidentiality.
  • Assist in patient orientation; apply hospital policies on safety, gown/contraband searches, and respectful admission procedures.
  • Initiate and update treatment plans; participate in care conferences and represent nursing components of care plans.
  • Review and interpret multidisciplinary assessments; evaluate lab data and follow up with physicians.
  • Identify fall risks, self‑abuse, suicidality, assaultive behavior, and develop appropriate precautions.
  • Administer medications accurately (right patient, drug, dose, time, route) and document monitoring of reactions or interactions.
  • Conduct patient medication education and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of new pharmacologic products.
  • Recognize and respond to physiological emergencies (cardiac, respiratory, withdrawal, neuroleptic malignant syndrome).
  • Provide education to patients and families before discharge and document teaching interventions.
  • Organize care activities according to patient priorities, unit needs, and time constraints.
  • Ensure admissions, transfers, and other care activities comply with EMTALA and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain nursing standards, protect safety, enforce infection control, and participate in continuing education and in‑services.
  • Contribute to performance improvement, unit standards of care, and supply needs; serve on unit‑based committees or projects.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities: coordinate unit activities, lead crisis situations, manage therapeutic milieu, plan patient care assignments, and supervise LPNs or psychiatric technicians.
  • Maintain primary caseload and provide direction for patient care; collaborate with Clinical Services manager on goals and progress.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards; support training of new staff and interns.
  • Demonstrate professionalism: punctuality, communication, organizational skills, and a positive, solution‑focused attitude.
  • Participate in performance improvement teams and apply the PI model to departmental activities.
  • Assist with staffing changes and scheduling adjustments as required by unit needs.
Education & Training Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Registered nurse licensed by State Board of Nursing in the state of employment; license must be in good standing.
  • American Health Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire; bi‑annual re‑certification).
  • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient (required within 60 days of hire; annual re‑certification).
  • Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents and adults preferred.
  • May be required to hold a qualified medical professional (QMP) designation; competency evaluated annually.
  • Requirements for Child/Adolescent Day Treatment program staff: either training in psychiatric nursing or at least one year of clinical experience with children with mental health disorders.
