Registered Nurse; RN - Inpatient Surgical Services

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse provides patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The role is accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Theda Care policy.

• Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and specific competencies to assess patients and develop collaborative care plans.
• Provides high-quality, age‑appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific nursing care.
• Improves patient experience, streamlines processes, and reduces costs while maintaining quality.
• Mentors and engages colleagues to retain expert clinicians.
• Consults with physicians and interprofessional team members to problem‑solve and enhance patient care.
• Proactively identifies and manages risks to prevent crises.
• Responds skillfully to life‑threatening emergencies.

• Current Wisconsin RN licensure.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, pulling) and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Exposure to blood borne pathogens, sharp objects, and mechanical parts.
• Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination required for patient care procedures.

• Frequent exposure to sharp instruments and possible blood or bodily fluids.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and electrical shock.
• High noise levels in the work setting.
• Standing and walking for extended periods; transporting patients and equipment.
• Possible contact with aggressive or combative patients.

• Full time, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour shifts (5:30pm – 6:00am).
• Every third weekend rotation and holiday rotation.
