Job Description
The RN Clinical Nurse provides patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The nurse is accountable for imparting compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Theda Care policy. Through collaborative practice with members of the care team, the RN ensures patient outcomes meet the high quality of care provided by Theda Care and promotes a culture of innovation and professional growth.
Schedule- Variable 8‑hour shifts ranging between a start time of 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Night shift required 1 night per week.
- Call on every 4th weekend (Friday–Sunday).
- Holiday call 1–2 times per year with a 30‑minute response time.
Operating Room – perioperative services. The RN works in a 1:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, collaborating with surgical teams to provide exceptional care across specialties such as robotics, general surgery, orthopedics, cardiovascular, ENT, plastics, gynecologic, vascular, trauma, and cancer surgery.
Key Accountabilities- Utilize nursing process, evidence‑based practice, and specific competencies to assess patients and develop collaborative care plans.
- Provide highest quality care and meet clinical outcomes through interprofessional teamwork.
- Deliver age‑appropriate, developmentally sensitive, culturally specific nursing care.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient experience, streamline processes, and lower costs while maintaining quality.
- Mentor and engage colleagues to retain expert clinicians.
- Consult with physicians and team members to problem‑solve and enhance patient care.
- Anticipate and manage risks to prevent crises.
- Perform skillfully during life‑threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources.
- Current Wisconsin RN licensure.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- BSN requirement for non‑BSN nurses: must obtain BSN within five years of hire if RN experience < 1 year.
- ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
- PALS certification within 6 months of hire.
Ability to stand, stoop, walk, bend, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing duties.
Work EnvironmentFrequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments; occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock. High noise levels may occur. Patients may be aggressive or combative. Proper body mechanics and safety procedures are essential.
