Job Description

2 years of RN experience preferred

8‑hour shifts per week, 4 shifts total (32 hours). Start times vary between 5:30 and 12:00 p.m. Call is 3‑week nights in a 6‑week schedule and every 5th weekend (Saturday or Sunday, not both). Holiday call requirement = 1 per year.

The RN will prep for surgical and procedural cases, care for patients and families focusing on safety and customer experience. After anesthesia the RN will recover patients, focusing again on safety, and then either discharge or transfer to another level of care.

• Utilize the nursing process, evidence‑based practice, and specific competencies to assess patients’ physical condition and nursing needs, and develop a plan of care in collaboration with patients and the interprofessional team.
• Plan care needs in collaboration with the interprofessional team to provide highest quality of care.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the assigned specialty, performing all functions of the professional clinical nurse (RN) that are age appropriate, developmentally sensitive, and culturally specific.
• Identify ways to improve patients’ experience of care, streamline care processes and lower costs while promoting quality to improve patient, family, and team member satisfaction.
• Contribute to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians.
• Provide consultation and maintain positive relationships with physicians and other interprofessional team members, collaborating to problem‑solve and improve patient care.
• Demonstrate, anticipate, and proactively manage risk to prevent crises.
• Perform skillfully in life‑threatening emergencies, matching demands and resources during crisis situations.

• Current Wisconsin RN licensure.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
• BSN completion:
  Upon hire, any non‑BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed RN experience will be required to obtain a BSN within five years of hire.

Ability to stand, stoop, walk, bend, push, and pull, lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance. Job is exposed to blood‑borne pathogens and requires manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for patient care procedures.

• Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
• Occasional high noise level.
• Standing and/or walking for extended periods.
• Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; risk of injury if proper body mechanics are not followed.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
• Contact with aggressive or combative patients.
