Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse provides patient‑centered, specialized, evidence‑based nursing care across the continuum through an interprofessional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. The role involves delivering compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and Theda Care policy. Through collaborative practice with care team members, the RN is accountable for patient outcomes that meet Theda Care’s high quality standards and for promoting a culture of innovation and professional growth.
ScheduleMix of 6 or 8 hour shifts built between 6:00a.m. and 4:30p.m. Self‑scheduling. Call required 1× biweekly and every 6‑8th weekend (Fri‑Mon). Call response time 30minutes. 1‑2 holidays per year required.
Unit Details (Endoscopy)Endoscopy nurses collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal tract conditions. Responsibilities include patient education, pharmacologic and therapeutic treatment, and assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the OR/procedural room setting. Nurses provide pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedure care to patients, families, and caregivers.
Key Accountabilities- Utilize the nursing process, evidence‑based practice, and specific competencies to assess patient conditions and develop collaborative care plans.
- Plan patient care in collaboration with the interprofessional team to achieve high‑quality clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in the assigned specialty, performing all RN functions suitable for the patient’s age, development, and cultural context.
- Identify opportunities to enhance patient experience, streamline processes, and reduce costs while promoting quality and satisfaction for patients, families, and staff.
- Contribute to a professional environment that encourages mentoring, engagement, and development to retain expert clinicians.
- Provide consultation, maintain positive relationships with physicians and team members, and collaborate to solve problems and improve care.
- Proactively manage risk to prevent crises.
- Respond effectively to life‑threatening emergencies, balancing demands and resources during crisis situations.
- Current Wisconsin RN licensure.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
- BSN completion:
Non‑BSN nurses with less than one year of RN experience must obtain a BSN within five years of hire.
- Move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, pulling) and lift up to 50pounds without assistance.
- Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens during duties.
- Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for patient care procedures.
- Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional high noise level.
- Extended standing or walking periods.
- Transporting, transferring, and positioning patients or equipment.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
- Occasional contact with aggressive or combative patients.
