Job Description
We are looking for a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) who will support plasma center operations. The successful candidate will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and works under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager, with medical oversight from the Center Physician.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and transportation to emergency care facilities.
- Provide medical expert review for the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed regarding donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for staff as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/E.R.; reference EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS to investigate pandemic threats within the local community.
- Follow guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and provide center‑level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduate equivalency from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state of assignment: EMT‑Paramedic.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑required basic IV therapy knowledge.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 – $33.44
. Salary may vary by qualifications, experience, and location. U.S. based employees may also qualify for short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and wellness benefits. Eligible for up to 80 hours of sick time per calendar year and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
