Pet Vet Care Centers' Dells Animal Hospital is offering a Veterinary Assistant position in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
Position OverviewSupport veterinarians and technicians with daily tasks: cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients; preparing and sanitizing surgery suites; restraining and handling patients; clerical and administrative work.
Key Responsibilities- Provide compassionate care to all patients.
- Greet patients and owners, record weight and vital signs.
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, administer medication under direction.
- Calm and soothe anxious patients.
- Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration or patient restraint.
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment: EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, etc.
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain controlled drug documentation.
- Feed patients as prescribed, record appetites, report unusual conditions.
- Communicate positively with clients, ensuring comfort with departure.
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans.
- Maintain cleanliness of hospital: equipment, kennels, facilities; ensure safe chemical use; complete laundry.
- Bath and care for overnight patients; groom before release.
- Adhere to safety and wellness regulations.
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Show up for work regularly; full-time presence required.
- Promote hospital products and services.
- Respond promptly to directions from DVM or LVT.
- Perform other duties assigned by Manager; may include specialty areas such as dentistry, surgery, emergency, radiology, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine.
- 1 or more years of Veterinary Hospital experience.
- Certification is a plus.
- Full time (35 to 40 hours/week).
- Some days until 7PM; rotate Saturdays 8AM to 12PM; start time 7:45AM.
