Veterinary Services Are you a CVT looking for relief, part-time, or full-time work? Whether your interest lies in spay/neuter services, shelter medicine, or simply forwarding our mission of making a difference for animals and the people who love them, we have opportunities that may be a match!

Key accountabilities may include:
  • Performing treatments, diagnostics, and nursing care for shelter and clinic patients:
  • Venipuncture, radiographs, dental prophylaxis, laboratory diagnostics, and vaccinating and restraining animals in accordance with organizational protocols.
  • Performing surgical procedures:
  • Safely and efficiently anesthetizing and preparing patients for surgery, monitoring patients at all stages of anesthesia, and calculating drug dosages.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and cleaning and maintaining equipment, surgical quarters, and animal areas as needed
  • Using a welcoming, supportive, and non-judgmental approach with all clients, co-workers, and volunteers.
Qualifications:
  • Veterinary Technician Certification required
  • Experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter preferred
  • Able to partner with clients, staff, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds

  • Able to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work
  • Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Hiring range: $22-$26/hour

The Wisconsin Humane Society(WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin.

It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allisand a wildlife rehabilitation center in Milwaukee.

The organization offers adoption services, youth programs, low-cost veterinary resources, retail stores, volunteer programs, dog training classes, and much more. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.
