Balluff is growing, and we’re looking for motivated individuals to join our Sales Trainee Engagement Program (STEP) — a six-month, paid training program designed to prepare you for a full-time Sales Engineer role.
What makes this role different?
You’re not expected to “figure it out” on your own. We invest in your development from day one — with structured training, real-world experience, and a clear path to a field sales role.
What to Expect This is a 6-month, paid rotational program where you’ll build the technical and sales foundation needed to succeed.
Starting salary: $67,000 during training
Salary increase upon promotion to Sales Engineer after successful completion
Company vehicle provided once you transition into your territory
During the program, you will:
Rotate through core functions including Technical Customer Support, Sales Support, and Operations Learn how our products work by solving real customer applications
Participate in structured product and sales training
Gain experience with internal systems, customer communication, and demo tools
Travel with and shadow experienced Sales Engineers Begin developing customer relationships through virtual sales activities
Your Career Path After completing the STEP program, you will transition into a Sales Engineer role supporting the Minneapolis territory, where you will:
Manage and grow customer relationships
Apply your technical and sales training in the field
Drive business growth within your territory

Basic Requirements Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline
Up to 1–2 years of post-education experience
Technical aptitude with a willingness to learn Balluff products and systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms
Ability and willingness to relocate twice:
First, to Florence, KY / Cincinnati, OH area for training
Then, to your assigned sales territory (Minneapolis) upon program completion
