Operator II - Water

Job Requirements

• Turns water on and off at designated sites.
• Sets, tests and reads meters.
• Installs remote meters.
• Checks meters and wires for damage; repairs as needed.
• Checks and replaces stalled and leaking meters.
• Changes water meters, including large industrial meters, for testing.
• Locates water and sewer mains and services.
• Installs new mains and services.
• Tests for and repairs leaks in services and mains.
• Repairs, tests and raises water hydrants.
• Inspects and repairs valve and curb boxes.
• Operates various equipment, including a back hoe.
• Performs maintenance and routine repairs to work related equipment.
• Informs and advises homeowners and businesses on breaks in a water main, service leaks and other concerns; takes and acts upon comments and complaints from the public.
• Completes all necessary paperwork pertaining to work assignments.
• Responds to calls and requests and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Maintains regular punctual and predictable attendance, works other shifts, overtime and extra hours as required.
• Performs inspection duties.
• Plows and hauls snow.
• Salts streets and sidewalks.
• Performs any and all duties of Laborer and Operator I & II.

• Employees must live within a twenty-five-mile radius or reasonably be able to respond to an emergency and report within thirty minutes.
• A commercial driver’s license with air brakes and trailer endorsements along with a good driving record is required.

Monday – Friday 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
