What you'll be doing as a Mechanic:
- Maintain and service all trucks and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and implement a routine maintenance schedule for all equipment to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Perform repairs on small engines and large diesel equipment, troubleshooting and resolving issues quickly.
- Handle material deliveries to support crews and retail operations as needed.
- Weld and repair equipment/tools, ensuring all machines are in top working condition.
- Transport and move heavy equipment to job sites as required.
- Keep the shop organized and well-maintained, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
- Order and manage parts inventory for ongoing equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with fleet management, ensuring all vehicles are compliant with safety standards and regulations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical failures, using problem-solving skills to keep equipment in peak performance.
- Collaborate with the team to prioritize repairs and maintenance schedules, ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a relevant field
- Valid driver's license
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven ability to handle and operate vehicles safely and efficiently
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor when needed
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly for tasks such as moving tools, equipment, and parts.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and squatting while performing maintenance and repairs on equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to work in various positions (e.g., crouching, standing, or lying down) to access machinery and components for repairs and servicing.
- Manual dexterity and strong hand-eye coordination for using hand tools, power tools, and equipment for diagnostics and repairs.
- Comfortable working in a mechanic shop environment, which may include exposure to grease, oils, dust, and fluctuating temperatures.
- Physical stamina to work on vehicles and equipment for extended periods, often requiring repetitive tasks and sustained effort.
- The ability to operate heavy machinery and equipment such as forklifts, trucks, and cranes to transport and move equipment to and from job sites.
- Prolonged periods of standing or walking during equipment inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., under vehicles, inside engines, and compartments) to perform necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Occasional lifting and maneuvering of large parts and equipment that may require assistance or special tools for proper handling.
