Maintenance Mechanic 3 – Building Maintenance, Generator & Equipment Maintenance Shop – Camp Murray, WA
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Mechanic 4 for the West Region of the State Maintenance & Support Services (SMSS), a part of the Construction & Facilities Management Office (CFMO), this position is a member of the SMSS Generator & Equipment Maintenance Shop (GEMS) and is responsible for providing skilled, journey-level functions to ensure assigned generators and equipment remain in compliance and in operational status.
Additionally, this position leads journey-level and sub journey-level teammates.
- Journey-level work to accomplish regulatory compliance and preventative maintenance of CFMO assigned generators.
- Journey-level work to accomplish repair and replacement of CFMO assigned generators.
- Lead maintenance personnel in the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
- Journey-level work to accomplish compliance, preventative maintenance, and repair/replacement of assigned equipment.
- Assist grounds and custodial crews.
Two years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 2, OR:
- Leading others in maintenance, repair, and non-repair efforts.
- Journey level understanding of maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
- Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in preventative maintenance, repair efforts, and inventory.
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building trades.
- Basic safety, building, environmental, and construction codes and regulations.
- Read plans and blueprints for buildings, infrastructure systems, equipment, etc.
- Consult with supervisors and make recommendations about repairs/remodeling work needed.
- Actively demonstrate a commitment to learning and growth.
- Demonstrate a willingness to understand and meet the needs of others.
- Operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, scanner, etc.).
Wage/salary depends on qualifications or rules of promotion.
Conditions of Employment Background InvestigationMust successfully complete the appropriate background checks required for employment and to obtain or maintain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) to obtain or maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance. Must be willing to sign releases of information and shall not have access to any investigative materials and files. The processing of background checks can take up to six months post-employment.
Failure to successfully pass a background check may be cause for termination.
This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA).
Driver's LicenseWillingness to work on a Military Controlled Access Installation. Camp Murray utilizes the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) for entry to the installation. Must meet access requirements and background check which can be found in Camp Murray Access Requirements Policy (Unified Policy No. 18‑01). This includes possession of an Enhanced Driver's License, or other REAL Identification.
Work HoursChoice between a Tuesday through Friday (4/10 schedule), Monday through Thursday (4/10 schedule), or Monday through Friday (5/8 schedule). Actual hours will start no earlier than 6:00 am and end no later than 6:00 pm and will include core business hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
TeleworkThis position is not eligible for telework.
Emergency AssignmentUpon activation of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) or Joint Field Office (JFO), incumbent may be required to work in an alternate location with rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings, in a highly stressful and fast-paced environment.
TravelOccasional statewide travel may be required up to 5% to include overnight stays.
