Maintenance Mechanic 3 (Lead Maintenance Mechanic Fire Alarm Technician)
Join our team at Western State Hospital, an adult psychiatric hospital, to lead maintenance efforts and ensure facilities operate at their best.
This role is a life safety specialist responsible for fire alarm and fire suppression systems. The position focuses on the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities, and equipment across hospital facilities.
On‑site work is required at least three days a week. Eligible employees receive an additional 5% premium pay. Evening and night shifts include a shift differential in addition to standard compensation. Employees may be eligible for an ORCA transportation card.
Some of what you'll do- Perform maintenance and repairs in life safety, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Test and maintain fire alarm and fire suppression systems, including sprinklers, stand pipes, and extinguishers.
- Lead team workflow, guide safety policies and procedures, and assist staff with operational procedures.
- Install and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical fixtures; repair HVAC, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, gates, and hydrants.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on all types of mechanical equipment.
- Test emergency lighting and conduct minor appliance repairs.
- Develop solutions for repair and maintenance issues.
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches.
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and at least one year of experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work. (Trade experience may substitute for an apprenticeship.)
- NICET Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification.
