Sprinkler Fitters are specialized pipe fitters in the fire protection industry. This position involves installing, maintaining, and repairing fire suppression systems in new construction and retrofit projects.
Job Responsibilities- Install fire suppression equipment in new and existing structures
- Perform repairs to existing sprinkler systems, assessing impairments and determining corrective actions
- Interpret and follow sprinkler system blueprints; recommend adjustments for site‑specific needs
- Fit and fabricate pipes on‑site when required
- Operate hand, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools safely and effectively
- Collaborate with crew members and foreman; occasionally work independently
- Train and mentor assigned apprentices
- Plan ahead for labor and materials to keep projects on schedule
Maintain communication with superintendent and office staff - Ensure compliance with fire codes, safety standards, and company policies
- Safely drive company vehicles (must meet driving record standards)
- Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter license (Local 669)
- Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass drug screening, background check, and driving record review
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills
- Physical ability to climb ladders, lift equipment, and wear PPE
- Organized and able to work in fast‑paced environments
- Military discharge other than dishonorable (if applicable)
- Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
- Proficient in using phones, tablets, and other technology-based systems
