Johnson Controls Inc is seeking an entry‑level HVAC Apprentice to deliver high‑quality service, troubleshoot mechanical systems, and support facility efficiency on client sites.
Responsibilities- Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Adhere to all safety and quality standards while performing HVAC mechanical equipment and controls tasks.
- Keep JCI, contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues as needed.
- Meet attendance requirements for required Union training during the first year.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
- Generate quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy (STA) to build skill sets for continued recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement.
- Receive coaching and mentorship to develop troubleshooting skills for both technical issues and customer needs.
- Advance through the Apprentice Program within one year of hire.
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
- 1+ years of experience in mechanical systems within the HVAC industry, automotive repair, construction, or farming.
- Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and external contacts professionally and ethically.
- Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently as experience grows.
- Prioritization of safety in all forms.
- Valid driver’s license.
- 1–2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.
Pay Rate: $17.59 hourly, determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement/Rate Sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
