FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN – Level 1, 2 or 3

Purposeof Position
IEM will provide training on our specific equipment and commissioning process in Ashburn, VA for approximately 4 weeks. You will be responsible for hands‑on field service work at customer sites, with a focus on installation of components and subassemblies, and basic commissioning of IEM equipment primarily in data center or industrial applications.
- Attending project meetings as required, including coordination with contractors and clients.
- Installation and modification of electrical or mechanical components and subassemblies (panel board interiors, circuit breakers, bus bar, switch gear section doors, subpanels, control components, power cabling, and control wiring).
- Perform basic testing of modified assemblies (visual, ductor, etc.).
- Perform basic commissioning of switchboards, control panels, and power products.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits and networking equipment.
- Coordinate with Technical Project Manager or manufacturing facilities to find solutions to product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer in the field, and identify additional field resources needed for installation and replacement parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications to existing equipment.
- Provide technical product support.
- A technical degree or equivalent and 8+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, data center or field service role with commissioning of LV/MV electrical switch gear (required for Level 3 candidates).
- Must be a team player with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to travel (75%) and work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Experience with switch gear and electrical controls system (required for Level
3). - Military experience – plus.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams (required for Level
3).
The hourly rate for this role ranges from $36.30 to $52.80 per hour, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
