Job Summary
Technician Trainee will be trained and educated to become a proficient auto‑glass technician. Upon completing the training program, the trainee will receive the Safelite Safe Tech certification and possess the fundamental skills necessary for unsupervised glass repair, replacement, and recalibration.
Responsibilities- Be paid to learn and apprentice the Safelite way through hands‑on and classroom training.
- Observe and assist in installing and repairing auto glass.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, troubleshoot, and perform diagnostic testing.
- Provide additional services and products.
- Study and pass testing to become a Safelite‑certified Technician.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles, tools, and chemicals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Competitive weekly pay starting at $20.25/hour, increasing to $24/hour after training and certification.
- Earn $5 per set of wiper blades when added for customer safety.
- Career levels based on performance metrics (efficiency, quality, satisfaction).
- Benefits package valued at more than $10,000, including a 401(k) plan with company matching, medical plans, paid time off, holidays, and volunteer days.
- Program to buy additional PTO or sell unused time up to 16 hours.
- Up to $5,250 annually in tuition reimbursement.
- Paid training and all tools and resources required for success.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license (additional licenses as required by law).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, bend and twist body.
- Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Operate a motor vehicle in compliance with all laws, monitoring via in‑cab camera/video surveillance.
- Maintain professionalism and a passion for outstanding customer service.
- Work outside in varied weather and extreme temperatures for extended periods.
- Handle chemicals, including flammable chemicals, as applicable.
- Show flexibility on start and end times to accommodate customer needs.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibration and trouble‑shooting.
- Problem‑solve independently and collaboratively.
- Read, write, and interpret English language and technical directions.
- Communicate orally and in writing.
- Maintain a professional appearance per dress code and PPE policies.
- Willingness to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure.
