A. O. Smith seeks a Service Technician to install, start up, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial water heaters, boilers, and water treatment equipment. In this field-based role, you'll perform diagnostics, replace components, complete preventive maintenance, and support warranty service at customer sites. You will interpret schematics, use electrical and mechanical test equipment, and document all work in service systems. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to relay product issues and support continuous improvement while upholding strict safety, quality, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, start up, and commission water heaters, boilers, and water treatment systems at customer sites
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control issues on equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on installed systems
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to support service work
  • Use electrical and mechanical test equipment to troubleshoot issues
  • Document service activities, parts usage, and findings in service management systems
  • Support warranty evaluations and repairs according to company policies
  • Communicate effectively with customers, providing technical explanations and training as needed
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to report product issues and improvement ideas
  • Follow all company and industry safety standards, policies, and procedures
