Make a Difference in a Correctional Residential Setting

ATTIC Correctional Services is seeking a dependable, confident, and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at Addams House, a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) serving adult female correctional clients.

This is more than a traditional residential support position. You'll help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while working directly with residents to encourage positive behavior and successful progress in the community. Because security and community safety are important components of the program, we're looking for someone who exercises sound professional judgment, maintains appropriate boundaries, and is comfortable working independently.

If you have experience or an interest in corrections, criminal justice, human services, behavioral health, residential care, security, or related fields, this is an opportunity to put those skills to meaningful use.

What You'll Do

As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you'll provide day-to-day supervision and support for residents while helping ensure the program operates safely and effectively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide security, supervision, and behavioral support to adult correctional clients
  • Monitor resident whereabouts and behavior
  • Build professional, appropriate relationships with residents while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Conduct facility checks and help maintain a safe, structured environment
  • Assign and supervise resident activities
  • Supervise meal preparation and household chores
  • Complete progress notes, daily logs, incident reports, and other required documentation
  • Shop for resident food and sanitation supplies
  • Help create a therapeutic environment that encourages positive behavioral change and resident success
Qualifications

Success in this position requires someone who is reliable, observant, organized, and comfortable making sound decisions. You should be able to work effectively with limited supervision while recognizing the importance of consistency, professionalism, confidentiality, and community safety.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
  • Three years of related experience and/or education preferred in areas such as:
    • Corrections or criminal justice
    • Community Based Residential Facilities (CBRF)
    • Human or social services
    • Psychology or sociology
    • Mental or behavioral health
    • Security or law enforcement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and supervising agents
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Record-keeping experience preferred
  • Knowledge of nutrition and sanitation helpful
Why This Role Matters

The goal of Addams House isn't simply to supervise residents—it's to help create an environment in which individuals can make positive behavioral changes and successfully move forward.

As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you'll play an important role in resident accountability, program security, community safety, and reducing recidivism. This can be an especially rewarding opportunity for someone interested in building experience in corrections, criminal justice, behavioral health, or human services.
