Status:

Position Summary

The Guest Experience & Safety Coordinator leads volunteer teams at the Appleton campus to ensure every service and event is welcoming, visually inviting, efficient, and safe for attendees. This role also supports coordinators at other Alliance Church locations by organizing and sharing information, processes, and ideas to create a consistent and excellent experience across all campuses.

Guest Services Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop volunteer teams to provide a welcoming, efficient, safe, and enjoyable experience for all attendees, with special attention to visitors. Together, these teams create a positive and memorable impression at every point of contact.
  • Oversee and coordinate volunteer teams across various functions:
    • Ushers & Greeters: providing warm first impressions while staying alert to safety needs
    • Information Desk: ensuring guests receive accurate information and personal assistance
    • Safety Team/Security: equipping volunteers to respond appropriately to potential concerns
    • Parking: directing traffic flow for both a positive arrival experience and safe access
    • Coffee: recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to ensure quality service
    • HUB Décor: maintaining attractive, inviting spaces that support a welcoming environment
  • Ensure guest experience and safety work seamlessly together by training volunteers to be attentive, helpful, and security-conscious.
  • Coordinate with worship, tech, and facilities teams to ensure smooth weekend and event operations
  • Collaborate with other campus coordinators to standardize processes, share ideas, and align volunteer training across all locations
  • Keep Planning Center updated with accurate schedules, team information, and follow-up notes
  • Recruit, train, and schedule guest service volunteers through personal interaction and clear communication using Planning Center for all services and events
  • Report regularly to leadership on metrics such as volunteer engagement, guest feedback, and operational efficiency
Safety Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer safety team members to provide a secure environment during services and events
  • Ensure ushers, greeters, parking, and other guest service volunteers are trained to stay attentive and report concerns promptly
  • Work closely with the Coordinator – Facilities to develop and maintain clear safety procedures, including emergency response, evacuation, and medical protocols
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs of facilities before, during, and after services to identify potential hazards or security issues
  • Coordinate with church leadership, facilities staff, and local authorities as needed for safety planning
  • Maintain incident records and communicate safety updates or concerns to leadership in a timely manner
  • Ensure signage, traffic flow, and building access points support both a welcoming and secure environment
  • Oversee the implementation of child protection and vulnerable-person safety protocols in public spaces
Position Requirements
  • Ministry focused mindset with a heart for service and strong protective instincts
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and character consistent with 1 Timothy 3
  • Background in safety professions preferred (e.g. law enforcement, firefighter)
  • Strong organizational skills to develop efficient processes and share best practices across multiple locations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to inspire, train, and support teams
  • Ability to problem-solve quickly and ensure a safe, welcoming, and distraction-free environment
  • Comfortable using planning and communication tools (e.g., Planning Center Online)
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and occasional evenings for services and events
