Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient movement of materials and finished goods. This role leads the daily warehouse activities, coordinates with production and purchasing, and maintains inventory accuracy while enforcing safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Shipping Operations- Coordinate and prioritize daily shipments based on production schedules
- Verify orders, packaging, and documentation before shipment
- Schedule carriers, manage freight logistics, and track outgoing for both domestic and international shipments
- Ensure compliance with customer‑specific shipping requirements
- Oversee receipt of incoming materials and components
- Inspect deliveries for accuracy, damage, and proper documentation
- Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and entered into inventory systems
- Coordinate with purchasing on discrepancies or shortages
- Maintain accurate inventory records (ERP)
- Lead cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Optimize warehouse organization for efficiency and space utilization
- Supervise and support shipping/receiving team members
- Assign daily tasks and ensure workload balance
- Train new employees on procedures, equipment, and safety
- Act as a point of contact between warehouse, production, and office staff
- Enforce OSHA and company safety standards
- Ensure proper use of equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment (5S practices)
- Identify inefficiencies in shipping/receiving workflows
- Implement improvements to reduce errors, delays, and costs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience
- Minimum 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory role preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- APICS certification, CPIM or CLTD preferred
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Leadership and team coordination
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making
- Communication across departments
- Time management in a fast‑paced environment
- Basic computer skills (ERP, shipping software, Excel)
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs. regularly
- Standing, walking, and operating warehouse equipment for extended periods
