SummaryThe Area Estimation Specialist is responsible for recruitment, training and coaching, and utilization metrics for Estimators in their geographical area. The Area Estimation Specialist will play a crucial role in decision‑making processes, ensuring project viability, and offering a final review before submission to customers for projects exceeding a specified amount. The role is responsible for hiring, onboarding, and training all Estimators in the assigned area to ensure customer expectations are met while fostering and maintaining critical relationships with Lowe’s Home Improvement.
DescriptionFLSA Status:
Salaried, Exempt
- Meet company established Key Performance Indicators.
- Recruit, onboard, and train Estimators for the assigned geographical area, including interviews on the phone or in person.
- Use software to analyze resumes and find candidates for the Estimator role.
- Provide guidance and support to Estimators in the assigned geographical area.
- Manage and coordinate a team of flooring estimators across multiple locations.
- Coordinate with Lowe’s to obtain pricing and product information.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, products, and technologies.
- Ensure all estimates are prepared in a timely manner and meet quality standards.
- Review and analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Train and mentor flooring estimators on best practices, new technologies, and industry developments.
- Prepare reports and present information to leadership.
- Perform targeted store visits at the direction of the Estimation Manager or Director of Operations.
- In partnership with the workrooms, develop and implement Estimator retention and appreciation plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education and/or Experience
:
High school diploma or GED; 3–5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. Experience must involve customer service management. 3–5 years’ experience with ground‑up construction and a thorough knowledge of floor covering installation requirements and best practices preferred. - Language Skills
:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; write letters and prepare other documents as needed; proofread work. - Mathematical Skills
:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure for basic algebraic and geometric calculations; highly efficient interpreting plans and specifications to produce quality estimates. - Leadership Ability
:
Ability to lead situationally and motivate organizational goals and expectations; communicate vision and strategy effectively and inspiringly. - Reasoning Ability
:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed yet unsupported written or oral instructions; handle problems with few concrete variables in standardized situations. - Computer Skills
:
Knowledge of workstations and peripheral equipment; database, spreadsheet, email, and word‑processing software. Experience with Floorsoft and Floor Wizard estimating software preferred but not required. - Communication Skills
:
Effectively communicate orally and in writing in English. - Vision
:
Ability to view documents, multiple screens, handwritten documents, and drive. Color vision is required. - Must be able to drive a vehicle and meet company driving and insurance coverage requirements.
- Road Warrior – up to 75% travel.
