Opportunity
Senior Project Manager – Bridges/Structures to join our Transportation Group in Baltimore or Fairfax. This leadership position is responsible for managing complex bridge design projects while serving as a key client‑facing representative in Maryland and Virginia markets.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in bridge design, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Manage bridge and structural transportation projects from proposal through final design and construction support.
- Develop scopes of work and prepare fee proposals for bridge and related transportation projects.
- Establish and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Track financial performance, prepare cost projections, and manage project profitability.
- Identify and mitigate risks affecting schedule, scope, or budget.
- Provide senior-level technical direction for bridge structural and foundation design.
- Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
- Ensure compliance with MDOT, VDOT, DCDOT, and applicable AASHTO standards.
- Review and approve technical deliverables for quality and constructability.
- Support load rating analyses, condition evaluations, and rehabilitation strategies.
- Oversee shop drawing review and provide construction phase services support.
- Assemble and lead multidisciplinary design teams, including subconsultants.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level bridge engineers.
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients and agency representatives.
- Lead client meetings, prepare reports, and deliver presentations.
- Represent PRIME AE in industry associations and professional forums.
- Maintain a strong standard of professionalism in all client and team interactions.
- BS in Civil Engineering (required); MSCE preferred.
- Active Maryland PE registration required;
Virginia PE preferred or ability to obtain. - 10+ years of progressive experience in bridge structural and foundation design with project management responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience with preliminary and final design for MDOT projects.
- Familiarity with VDOT and DCDOT standards beneficial.
- Experience in bridge preservation, rehabilitation, and load rating analysis.
- NBIS Certification preferred.
- Experience providing construction phase services and shop drawing review.
- Strong financial management experience including budget tracking and forecasting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
