Display Craft Manufacturing, an Obrist America company, builds premium custom retail fixtures, cabinetry, millwork, and interior elements in Baltimore. For more than 75 years, our team has supported leading retail and commercial clients with craftsmanship, reliability, and practical manufacturing expertise. As part of Obrist America, we are expanding our local U.S. production capabilities, and the way our finished work is packaged, crated, loaded, and delivered is a critical part of the customer experience.
We are looking for a hands-on Shipping Manager who can lead warehouse and shipping operations with care, organization, and urgency.
THE ROLE
The Shipping Manager is responsible for preparing finished goods for shipment, managing packaging and crating, coordinating common carrier and hired trucking, maintaining company trucks, and supporting warehouse operations for manufacturing. This is a hands-on role for a self-motivated individual who understands that what leaves the facility represents the quality of the entire company. The ideal candidate is organized, practical, safety-minded, comfortable leading others, and able to keep shipments moving accurately and on time.
WHATYOU WILL DO
- Prepare, package, protect, and stage manufactured finished goods for shipment via UPS, Fed Ex, common carrier, and hired trucking.
- Build or coordinate crating, blocking, bracing, labeling, and loading methods that protect custom millwork and fixtures during transit.
- Manage outbound shipping schedules, shipment documentation, delivery details, and communication with project and production teams.
- Coordinate loading and unloading of finished goods, materials, and warehouse inventory safely and efficiently.
- Maintain company trucks and support transportation needs in accordance with company and insurance requirements.
- Manage warehouse personnel and warehouse operations to support production, staging, inventory, and shipment readiness.
- Use forklifts, hand tools, warehouse equipment, and basic computer systems safely and accurately.
- Identify and solve shipping, packaging, logistics, or material-handling issues before they affect the customer experience.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized warehouse and shipping area.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2+ years of warehouse, shipping, logistics, crating, or related experience preferred.
- Carpentry, millwork, cabinet construction, woodworking, or custom manufacturing knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to use hand tools, read a tape measure, and understand practical packaging/crating requirements.
- Forklift experience required; forklift certification preferred.
- Valid driver license, clean driving record, and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
- Basic computer skills required;
Microsoft Office experience preferred. - Ability to read shop drawings, construction drawings, labels, packing details, and shipment documentation is a plus.
- Ability to work safely, lead by example, and support a safe working environment for others.
- Ability to work overtime when required to meet production or shipping needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Hands-on warehouse and production-floor role requiring standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, loading, and material handling with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to lift 100 lbs. as needed with appropriate equipment, team lift practices, and/or reasonable accommodation.
- Regular use of warehouse equipment, hand tools, forklifts, and company vehicles as assigned.
