Youth Ministry Pastor
CHURCH PROFILE:Arcadia Chinese Baptist Church (ACBC) is a Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) affiliated Chinese Baptist Church located in the City of Arcadia of Los Angeles County, serving a multigenerational and multilingual (primarily English and Mandarin) congregation. The church is committed to biblical teaching, discipleship, evangelism, and nurturing the next generation in Christ.
POSITION SUMMARY:The Youth Ministry Pastor provides spiritual leadership, vision, and pastoral care for the church’s youth ministry (Grades 6–12). This pastor oversees youth worship, discipleship, fellowship, missions and outreach; working in partnership with parents, volunteers, and the pastoral staff to help youth grow in a vibrant, Christ-centered faith. The Youth Ministry Pastor reports to the Senior Pastor and serves as part of the pastoral team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Spiritual Leadership & Teaching
- Preach and teach God’s Word regularly to youth through worship services, Bible studies, Sunday School, and Friday or weekend fellowship gatherings.
- Shepherd youth spiritually through prayer, discipleship, mentoring, and personal relationships.
- Encourage youth to develop a personal walk with Christ and live out their faith in daily life.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive youth ministry strategy aligned with the overall church vision.
- Oversee youth programs such as retreats, conferences, missions, and outreach activities.
- Encourage youth participation in youth and church-wide ministries and worship.
- Develop student leaders and assist them in serving within youth and broader church ministries.
- Provide pastoral care and counseling to youth and, when appropriate, to parents and families, or refer to qualified counselors as needed.
- Recruit, train, equip, and shepherd youth ministry volunteers and adult counselors.
- Plan ministry calendars, budgets, and reports related to the youth ministry.
- Attend pastoral staff meetings, prayer meetings, and other church leadership meetings as required.
- Ensure all youth ministry activities comply with church policies and California State child safety guidelines.
- Partner with parents to support the spiritual growth and discipleship of their children.
- Maintain regular communication with adult counselors and parents regarding ministry vision, activities, and students’ well‑being.
- Seminary training preferred (Divinity or equivalent theological education) or equivalent experience in church youth ministry.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working with youth in a church or ministry setting (paid or volunteer). A clear calling from God to pastoral ministry, specifically to youth ministry.
- Candidate must understand the Southern Baptist Theology & Ministry and wholeheartedly adhere to the principles and doctrines of the Southern Baptist Convention.
- Candidates must possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multilingual, and multigenerational Chinese church context.
- Mature, Christ-centered life marked by humility, prayerfulness, and godly character (e.g., 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).
