Role Description

This is a full-time, on‑site role located in Arcadia, CA. We are seeking a high school teacher to teach 6 periods per day, including AP Psychology, Biology, AP Research, and other related high school science courses. The teacher will also have 1 prep period/study hall each day. We have an 8:1 student‑teacher ratio, and class sizes are normally capped at 15 students and may reach up to 20 in rare circumstances due to late/mid‑year enrollment.

An ideal candidate is comfortable teaching in a classroom where students have various levels of mastery of a subject and is comfortable working with both students proficient in English and with English Language Learners.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach the above‑listed courses
  • Develop lesson plans that align with the school‑provided curricula and California standards for existing courses
  • Develop appropriate curricula and lesson plans for new courses
  • Assess students’ knowledge by analyzing their work and solving problems
  • Maintain a tidy classroom with all equipment needed for class preparation and instruction
  • Coordinate and run labs and hands‑on in‑class activities
  • Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback
  • Prepare and grade assignments on a timely basis
  • Attend regular teacher meetings, professional development sessions, parent meetings, and other meetings as needed
  • Keep records of classes taught, class time, exams, etc.
  • Follow all school policies and procedures in accordance with the school handbook
  • Cooperate with other teachers, parents, etc. to help improve our services for our students, including but not limited to mentoring school clubs and supervising students on field trips
  • Assist as needed with WASC accreditation visits and reports
Experience, Qualification & Education
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or higher, ideally in Biology or Psychology
  • Previous experience in teaching High School Science and Math courses preferred
  • Teaching Credentials are preferred but not required
  • Experience in classroom management preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant educational material
  • Experience with academic writing and research
Salary

$40,000 - $46,000
