POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians according to established standards and practices. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to age‑specific patient populations (e.g., infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics) and participates in related continuing education.

1. - Consistently demonstrate knowledge of setting up equipment, operating respiratory equipment, and troubleshooting all respiratory equipment in the department. Maintain preventive maintenance records and keep equipment clean and ready to use between patients.
- Assess patients for therapy, assess outcomes of treatment and interventions, and monitor progress.
- Set up equipment, administer respiratory medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
- Effectively monitor environmental control systems and patients on continuous ventilation. Perform and evaluate weaning of patients from continuous ventilation.
- Assist in maintaining adequate supplies by continuously checking inventory and notifying manager or designee.
- Maintain knowledge of established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, improving organizational performance, infection control, and safety standards.
- Adhere to hospital policies of attendance, department coverage during breaks, and submission of PTO requests at least two weeks prior to schedule posting.
- Participate in educational programs and in‑service meetings. Keep current with new equipment by attending outside meetings.
- Perform effectively as a member of the resuscitation team, including CPR, cardiac compression, and bagging patient.
- Perform nasotracheal and tracheal suctioning.
- Perform testing and demonstrate working knowledge of arterial blood gas testing.
- Provide education and instruction to patients about prescribed therapy. Discuss goals and outcomes at the onset of treatment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum (Required):
Associate degree or equivalent. - Preferred (Not Required):
Respiratory training / certification required.
- Minimum (Required):
New Grad. - One Year in Critical Care Experience Preferred.
- Registered as an RRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care preferred; must have RRT credential if hired after 12/31/2010.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) from American Heart Association.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from American Heart Association.
Pay Transparency - The hourly rate range for this position is $40.17–$52.44.
