The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Arcadia, CA, supporting the Store Manager in daily store operations. This role assists with leading and coaching store team members to provide outstanding service, drive sales, and maintain J.Jill’s high-touch customer experience. Responsibilities include overseeing floor coverage, helping manage visual merchandising, monitoring inventory, and ensuring the store is clean, organized, and aligned with brand standards.
The Assistant Manager participates in recruiting, onboarding, and scheduling, while supporting performance feedback and development for store associates. This role also helps analyze sales results, supports execution of promotions, and ensures all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Retail leadership skills, including supervising teams, delegating tasks, and providing coaching and feedback.
- Customer service and sales skills, with the ability to build relationships, engage customers, and meet or exceed sales goals.
- Operational skills related to cash handling, inventory management, loss prevention, and maintaining store standards.
- Visual merchandising and brand presentation skills to create an appealing, on-brand shopping environment.
- Communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and interacting with customers in a professional manner.
- Organizational and time management skills to balance priorities, support scheduling, and meet deadlines.
- Prior retail or specialty store management experience preferred, especially in apparel or lifestyle brands.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, move merchandise, and work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, fashion, or related fields is a plus.
