ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Applies cost-effective measures in utilization of time and supplies.
- Available to Director of Facilities for emergency response to hospital situations.
- Creates special effects by applying paint.
- Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty plaster or other filler.
- Maintain professional growth and development for job related skills and techniques through educational programs, seminars, workshops, and experience on the job.
- Must perform any or all of the following: cut stencils and stencil surfaces with lettering or decorations, paint signs on such surfaces as cloth and bulletin boards.
- Must perform other duties as required.
- Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun or paint roller.
- Performs assigned tasks with a constant concern for safety.
- Place cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint.
- Scrapes, wire brushes or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Selects premixed paints or prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil and thinning and drying substances.
- Simulates wood grain, marble, brick or tile effects.
- Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, wire brushes or steel wool and removes old paint from surfaces, using paint remover.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Minimum (Required):
High School diploma or GED

Trade or vocational school graduate
Minimum (Required):
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Five years' experience as a painter.
The hourly salary rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of the hospital, using paintbrushes, rollers, scrapers and blowtorches.
