A rapidly growing, family-owned, and established truss manufacturing company in Arcadia, Florida is seeking an experienced Truss Designer to join their team. The company specializes in designing and producing high-quality roof and floor truss systems for residential, commercial, and multifamily projects throughout Florida.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who understands Florida-specific construction practices and enjoys the technical side of design work.
Key Responsibilities- Design and engineer roof and floor truss systems for residential, commercial, and multifamily projects.
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop accurate truss layouts and designs.
- Collaborate with production, sales, and project management teams to ensure design accuracy, efficiency, and constructability.
- Prepare drawings, layouts, and material lists using truss design software (MiTek, Alpine, or similar).
- Ensure all designs meet state building codes, engineering standards, and customer specifications.
- Provide design support and revisions throughout production as needed.
- Multiple years of experience in truss design with demonstrated proficiency in roof and floor system layouts.
- Proficiency with MiTek, Alpine, or similar truss design software.
- Strong understanding of Florida-specific building codes and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural, and structural plans.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
- Work Setup:
Onsite preferred; hybrid flexibility may be considered for experienced designers in nearby areas. - Typical Day:
Approximately 95% computer-based design work and 5% job site collaboration (sales team handles most client-facing and field activity).
