PS: THIS POSITION IS FOR 8 HOURS SHIFT - 3pm TO 11pm or 11am to 7pm

Is responsible for the nursing care and daily management of the residents and unit assigned.

  • Provides nursing care in accordance with standards established by nursing service and administrative policies.
  • Assumes responsibility for the direction of other team members by providing assistance, observing and monitoring the activities of those supervised and evaluating the effectiveness of their acts. Conducts periodic evaluations on work performance of Nursing Assistants and contributes to evaluation of staff nurses as requested.
  • Evaluate residents needs for restorative nursing and implements these procedures.
  • Evaluate residents needs for restorative nursing and implements these procedures.
  • Develops a nursing plan of care for a resident who includes goals and priorities derived from the nursing diagnosis.
  • Implements the plan of care by directly administering care or by directing and supervising nursing acts delegated to R.N.s, L.P.N.s or Nursing Assistants.
  • Evaluates residents’ program toward goal achievement.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of nursing care and reports significant observations to Director of Nursing.
  • Maintains lines of communication to provide continuity of care between shifts of duty.
  • Notifies physician/family of pertinent change in residents’ condition.
  • Administers medications after appropriate orientation and instruction. Maintains accurate medication records and observes residents for signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions.
  • Administers special treatments and procedures, dressing changes, irrigations and other procedures requiring special techniques.
  • Accompanies physicians on rounds, reviews physician's orders medications and charts to insure prompt and accurate execution.
  • Follows the Nursing Standards of Care.
  • May come in contact with blood and other infectious blood fluids, follows Universal Precautions.
  • Attends Resident Care Conferences on unit residents.
  • Attends staff meetings, total plan of care, and in-service programs.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and organized unit.
  • Provides assistance to relatives and visitors as necessary.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, within the scope of his/her education and experience as delegated by the Director of Nurses.
  • Qualifications

    Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Must be registered by the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse or have obtained a temporary license.

    Background Level 2 will be required
