This 12‑month position supervises the Healthy Start / Pediatrics programs and the School Health Program. Responsibilities include managing staff, planning and directing work, approving leave, hiring, performing disciplinary actions, coordinating care, documenting services, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality.

The nurse provides on‑site school health services: collecting health histories, nursing assessment, managing acute and chronic problems, monitoring records, performing screenings, administering medications following physician orders, documenting accurately, enforcing immunization requirements, and maintaining electronic records in Health Master and Skyward.

Other duties include training school delegate staff, following up on referrals within five days, providing health counseling, consulting with medical providers, and preparing Medicaid reimbursement paperwork.

Coordinates with principals, presents programs per supplemental School Health Plan, leads School Health Advisory Committee, and provides in‑service training for school staff. Also oversees medication administration, CPR, and Basic First Aid training.

Works with health care providers in home and community settings to deliver Healthy Start and pediatric services, maintains records, instructs families on physicians' orders, and implements program requirements including documentation, coding, and reporting.

Assesses health needs, promotes preventive care, provides anticipatory guidance, assists in securing medical services, collaborates with community groups, performs basic physical assessments, provides referrals, and conducts educational programs.

Supports clinical services by completing patient assessments, coordinating treatment, advising on health care decisions, and performing immunizations. Manages medication room inventory and reports discrepancies.

• Strong listening and questioning skills.
• Knowledge of business planning, resource allocation, and leadership techniques.
• Clinical knowledge covering anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and preventive health care.
• Proficiency with computer software and electronic health records.
• Ability to analyze and identify strengths and weaknesses of approaches.
• Patient‑care skills: assessment, documentation, medication administration, and health education.
• Decision‑making and problem‑solving using mathematical and analytical methods.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Motivating and developing staff.

• Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
• Registered Nurse license in Florida (or eligible under Florida Administrative Code) or multi‑state license via Nurse Licensure Compact.
• At least an associate degree in nursing (preferred bachelor’s degree).
• CPR certification.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Basic Microsoft applications skills and experience with electronic health records.
• Ability to work an approximately 12‑month contract with flexible location within DeSoto County and school district.
