PACIFIC UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION
Range 2:
Night Custodian 8 hours/day (30 min unpaid lunch), 11 Paid Holidays and 10 Vacation Days
Under supervision of the supervisor of maintenance, operations, and transportation (MOT) performs a variety of custodial work, general cleaning in assigned buildings, and grounds work. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Cleans and maintains floors by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and waxing as needed. Vacuum carpets. Cleans and maintains rugs.
- Washes cleans and dusts windows, mirrors, railings, walls, furniture, tables, benches, and other equipment as needed.
- Empty waste containers and recycling bins, and transport them to the dumpster.
- Washes, scrubs, and disinfects restrooms.
- Replaces light bulbs; reports damaged buildings, broken equipment, and any safety/fire hazards to ensure safety of students and staff.
- Moves and rearranges desks, chairs, tables, furniture, and other equipment as needed.
- Sets up for and performs maintenance at special events such as sporting events and weekend events.
- Locks and unlocks doors, windows, and gates at assigned facilities.
- Reports to the supervisor when lights outside of school are non-operational; adjusts light timers as needed.
- Sweeps and picks up trash and debris from black top and other assigned areas.
- During school vacation periods, participates in the thorough cleaning and restoration of school and assigned buildings.
- Performs groundskeeping work such as, but not limited to, raking/blowing leaves or wood chips, weed eating and pulling weeds, watering lawns, and participating in school beautification projects.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, desired work experience in the field or a related field.
- Ability to clear State and Federal Livescan.
- Basic landscaping and a wide range of common repairs.
- Use and maintenance of industrial equipment and appliances like floor buffers and floor washers.
- Safe use of cleaning supplies at schools.
- Applicable laws, rules and regulations regarding maintenance, construction, and related activities.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Methods, supplies and equipment used in building maintenance and custodial work.
- Applicable laws and regulations governing maintenance, custodial operations, and grounds maintenance work.
- Environmental, health and safety issues and regulations related to employees, buildings and property.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Multi-task and maintain an organized schedule and working environment.
- Work evening/night and flexibility during school breaks to work days.
- Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
- Noise from equipment operation.
