Job Summary

Responsible for day‑to‑day leadership, coordination, and oversight of the Nutrition & Activities Program's community nutrition services including Heritage Café Dining Centers, Meals on Wheels, Mobile Dining, and Site Councils. Supervises program personnel, volunteers, and daily operations to ensure high‑quality participant‑centered services that comply with applicable regulations. Serves as a key member of the Nutrition & Activities leadership team to advance the agency’s mission of promoting the health, independence, and well‑being of older adults.

Leadership

and Supervision
  • Supervises various Nutrition & Activities support employees including Heritage Café Site, Mobile Program, and Meals on Wheels Coordinators, supplemental work‑training staff, and volunteers.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Nutrition & Activities on recruitment, interviewing, staffing, and evaluation of employees.
  • Assists with orienting, training, cross‑training, supervising, coaching, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating program employees, students, and volunteers.
  • Ensures adequate daily staffing and assigns employee duties and tasks.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and integrates schedules of employees, volunteers, and supplemental work‑training staff to ensure proper coverage.
  • Assists in coordination of employee training and ensures in‑service training and documentation.
  • Reports to the Director of Nutrition & Activities concerning personnel matters including morale.
  • Oversees timesheet completion and requests for leave of program employees; works with Payroll for accurate and timely completion.
  • Enforces written agency and program policies; escalates issues to the Director.
  • Monitors safety of the work environment and enforces safety practices.
  • Assists the Director in reviewing Emergency Operations Plan policy and procedures annually.
Program Implementation and Coordination
  • Travels to satellite Dining Center locations to conduct site visits and facilitate Site Council meetings.
  • Provides coverage for Dining Center Coordinators and Drivers as needed.
  • Participates in program and department policy and procedure development.
  • Assists Director in facilitating employee communication regarding participant and program issues.
  • Works with the program management team to ensure compliance with Title IIIC‑1, Title IIIC‑2 regulations.
  • Oversees and manages income‑generating projects and funding opportunities.
  • Works with Dining Center Coordinators to increase participation, create special events, and promote a positive dining experience while monitoring service levels and expenditures.
  • Assists in coordination of existing programs and outreach activities essential to the Nutrition & Activities program.
  • Assists in developing community support, contacts with media, and public presentations.
  • Assists in development of grants for the program.
  • Facilitates Dining Center Site Councils, assists in problem resolution, provides program updates, and plans outreach to new seniors.
  • Maintains and updates the Nutrition Operations Manual with the Director and Food Service Manager.
  • Participates in various agency committees as directed.
  • Acts in a manner consistent with agency values.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory position for a social, health service, recreation, nutrition, or similar program.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in public health, community nutrition, health education, or gerontology.
  • Experience working with older adults, grant management, and program planning.
Licenses or Certificates
  • Valid California Driver’s License and personal auto liability insurance; personal vehicle in good driving/operating condition.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire.
Pre‑Screening Requirements
  • Clearance of a DOJ and FBI criminal history background check.
  • Motor Vehicle Report verification.
