Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care / ICU (Nights)
Location: Arcata, CA
Position Type: Contract (Travel / Local)
Duration: 13 Weeks (High potential for extension or permanent placement)
Compensation
- Local Pay: $2,000 - $2,100 per week
- Traveler Pay: $2,450 - $2,550 per week
- Hours: 36 hours guaranteed (Overtime after 40 hours)
- Shift: Nights (NOC)
- Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts per week
- Additional: Holiday rotations required
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable ICU Registered Nurse for a critical care contract opportunity in a community hospital setting. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who thrives in high-acuity environments and can work independently while delivering exceptional patient care during night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside care to critically ill patients in an ICU/CCU environment.
- Continuously monitor and assess hemodynamic and physiological status.
- Rapidly recognize and respond to life-threatening changes in patient conditions.
- Administer and titrate:
- IV medications
- Vasoactive drips
- Sedation and critical care therapies
- Operate and manage advanced equipment including:
- Ventilators
- Cardiac monitors
- Specialized ICU devices
- Maintain accurate, real-time documentation using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control, safety, and hospital policies.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - California.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Minimum 3+ years of recent ICU / Critical Care experience.
- Strong experience managing high-acuity patients and complex clinical scenarios.
- Familiarity with EMR systems (experience with CPSI/Evident preferred).
- Must provide proof of negative TB screening within 12 months prior to start date.
