Purpose and Scope of Responsibility
The ED Nurse Manager is a professional Registered Nurse who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of patient care across the life span. The Manager provides for the recruitment, professional development and evaluation of nursing personnel, assumes financial responsibility for the department, monitors compliance with the annual operating budget, and develops and implements plans to address performance variances.
The Manager maintains an ongoing system for monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided, ensuring nursing care is consistent with approved standards of care and practice. On a twenty‑four‑hour basis, the Manager is responsible for all operational components of the department under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, and must work one day shift and one night shift as a direct patient RN every six weeks.
The Manager prepares an annual written report or action plan for quality improvement, collaborates with hospitalists and emergency physicians, and evaluates patient plans of care on a case‑by‑case basis. The Manager is a member of the Clinical Managers and the Perinatal Committee.
Salary: $125,000 - $155,000 annually. Relocation reimbursement is negotiable.
