Join a dedicated perioperative team as a PACU Registered Nurse (RN) and Pre-Op RN in Arcata, California. This 13-week travel nursing opportunity is ideal for an experienced nurse who enjoys providing attentive care during the critical transition from surgery to recovery. Located on California’s scenic Redwood Coast, Arcata offers access to breathtaking redwood forests, coastal recreation, charming local culture, and a welcoming community.
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
- Nursing Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-Op, and Perioperative Nursing
- Location: Arcata, California
- Start Date: October 2, 2026
- End Date: January 1, 2027
- Schedule: Monday–Friday daytime shifts with shared call coverage for nights and weekends
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of current Registered Nurse (RN) experience, preferably in PACU, pre-operative, post-operative, or perioperative nursing
- Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- TB clearance completed within the past 12 months
- Ability to participate in shared call coverage, including nights and weekends
- Strong patient assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and clinical monitoring skills
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and promptly identify changes in condition
- Complete focused assessments, vital-sign monitoring, pain assessments, and airway evaluations
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols and provider orders
- Prepare patients for surgery and support an efficient pre-operative workflow
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perioperative staff, and other members of the care team
- Provide patient and family education related to recovery, discharge instructions, and follow-up care
- Respond effectively to urgent clinical needs during scheduled shifts and shared call coverage
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support continuity of care throughout the perioperative experience
