Site Overview

Our Archbald, Pennsylvania facility is a nonunion manufacturing plant with approximately 70 employees. The site specializes in producing polyurethane foam and other foam products. As a key location within FXI's manufacturing network, this plant is known for its strong focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence. Team members work in a collaborative, supportive environment where continuous improvement and innovation play a central role.

Overview

As a Pourline Engineer you will be responsible for the technical performance, safety, quality, and continuous improvement of polyurethane foam pourline operations. This role serves as the primary engineering authority on foam chemistry, process control, and equipment optimization to ensure stable, in‑spec production while minimizing scrap, MUV loss, and downtime. The Pourline Engineer works closely with hourly operations, maintenance, quality, and corporate Foam Technology to drive best‑in‑class pourline performance and develop the technical capability of the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure safety is prioritized across all pourline activities and enforce EH&S/PSM requirements.
    • Support environmental compliance, EMS duties, and incident investigations.
  • Pourline Process & Foam Performance
    • Monitor daily foam production and adjust formulations/process parameters to stay within spec.
    • Troubleshoot foam defects and lead trials for new formulations, materials, and process improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement & Analytics
    • Provide analytical support for SPC/SQC, yield improvement, and MUV reduction.
    • Lead PDCA, Kaizen, and standardization of best practices across shifts and plants.
  • Equipment & Systems
    • Troubleshoot pourline equipment with maintenance/OEMs and ensure proper calibration.
    • Execute and oversee pourline functions in SAP and related manufacturing systems.
  • Leadership & Workforce Development
    • Provide technical coaching and training to supervisors and hourly teams.
    • Support performance management and serve as acting technical lead when needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience in polyurethane foam pouring, chemical manufacturing, or continuous process environments, preferably.
  • Strong understanding of polyurethane foam chemistry and pourline operations.
  • Proficiency with SAP and manufacturing data systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
