The Forklift Operator must possess the necessary skills and experience to pass the required certification test and demonstrate proper and safe use of all forklift(s) and related equipment. The Forklift Operator must also be proficient in safely handling all products to prevent damage to the product(s) and the facility.

  • Ability to locate and identify raw material or finished goods in storage using verbal instructions or work requisitions and transport them to designated areas using forklift.
  • Rotate raw materials and finished goods within designated areas to maintain "first - in/first - out" principle. Notify Supervisor of defective parts, raw material.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of equipment with raw material and/or finished products.
  • Assist the Inventory Control department in maintaining accurate inventory information by properly recording locations and quantities of materials and legible and accurate skid labels.
  • Unload all inbound freight, including purchased items, customer returns and the company trucks.
  • Maintain an accurate log of all movements within or between the various departments and/or Companies.
  • Perform daily maintenance check on forklift and make corrections as needed.
  • Keep own and adjacent work area clean.
  • Perform related and incidental work assignments as required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by verifying vehicle safety device operation; following standards and procedures.
  • Comply with legal regulations. Follow all company safety policies and procedures and attend all safety trainings related to the position.
  • Perform all other job duties as requested by the lead, supervisor, manager or director.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, preferably customers and vendors as well.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

With minimal supervision, demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, interpret, and resolve issues using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be able to obtain and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift, HAZWOP, RCRA, Hazardous Waste, DOT Hazardous certification, and Crane operation certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Frequent lifting of boxes or pans. Periodic lifting or other movements of a range of weights.

Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and part containers can also be expected.
