Tool & Die Maker

Location: Archdale, NC 27263
Pay Rate: $28 –$29/hr, paid weekly; with an increase upon permanent hire
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
Overtime: Fridays as needed
Duration: 1 year contract, temp to hire

Overview

The Tool & Die Maker supports manufacturing operations by fabricating, repairing, modifying, and maintaining high-precision stamping tooling. This position works closely with Engineering and Production to troubleshoot tooling issues, support new tool try-outs, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure dies and components meet strict dimensional and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, repair, and maintain stamping tooling, including punches, dies, and sub-assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot die and tooling issues in collaboration with Engineering and Production.
  • Set up and machine components to precise dimensions and tolerances.
  • Design fixtures and tooling using CAD/CAM and 3D modeling software.
  • Select appropriate metals and materials based on tooling requirements.
  • Perform tooling sub-assembly, bend fitting, adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
  • Support new tooling try-outs and engineering changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tooling performance, manufacturability, and service life.
  • Recommend tooling repairs or outside services when necessary.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Previous Tool & Die Maker experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of progressive and transfer stamping dies.
  • Experience with basic press and feeder operation.
  • Strong machining and machine setup skills, including working to precise dimensions and tolerances.
  • CAD/CAM and 3D design experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical, analytical, mathematical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Journeyman card or apprenticeship certificate preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical or vocational training in CNC operation preferred.
