Position Overview

Preconstruction Estimator – Arden Hills, MN.

• Develop detailed cost estimates for materials, sub‑contractors, purchased equipment, and labor associated with HVAC contracting projects.
• Create scope definitions, system sketches, exception and exclusion lists, preliminary proposals, vendor and sub‑contractor quotes, and points lists.
• Collect and analyze project data, plans, and specifications to compile accurate cost estimates.
• Take off and price purchased equipment, ensuring correct quantity, size, configuration, voltage, and options.
• Review bid documents, existing conditions, and subcontractor proposals for potential conflicts and constructability issues.
• Lead pre‑bid meetings with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, and cost considerations.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and risk items across projects.
• Negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing through quotations to optimize job costs.
• Assist Account Managers with determining the need for outsourced engineering and coordinate with Operations / Fulfillment to control cost variations.
• Provide technical support on strategic acquisition teams and contribute to customer satisfaction efforts.

• Four‑year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Project Management and HVACR industry experience required.
• Hands‑on experience with construction estimating, project bidding, and procurement.
• Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems and HVAC operation, including temperature controls.
• Understanding of construction methods and ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours and occasional travel, including overnight stays.
• Valid driver’s license with no major traffic violations in the past three years.

Annual base salary range: $70,400.00 – $. Compensation includes salary and incentive eligibility. Benefits begin on DAY ONE and include health insurance, 401(k) with up to 8% company match, paid time off (15 vacation days, 9 holidays, 3 floating days, sick leave), educational and training support, and safety‑sensitive role compliance.
